Hidetaka Nishiyama was a founding member of the Japan Karate Association (JKA). He is also the author of one of the most influential Karate books, “The Art Of Empty Handed Fighting”, alongside co-author Richard C. Brown.
Nishiyama was passionate about the growth of Shotokan Karate outside of Japan, especially in the United States.
